As you can probably guess, not all wood file cabinets are designed the same. Although they are built for the same primary purpose of organizing and storing all the paperwork you may have in your office, the details can be different. These details range from merely aesthetics to the more critical and functional aspects.
So, in terms of appearance, you might come across cabinets made from different types of wood, which can be softwood like pine or hardwood like cherry and oak. The surfaces may be finished or unfinished. The color is also component that can be varied with typical selections being black and white as they are easy to match.
As for functionality, you normally can get 2, 3 or 4 drawer wood file cabinets and the choice would depend on the how many files you have needing storage. The shape of the cabinet can also vary – i.e. vertical versus lateral wood file cabinet.
Another functionality related feature relates to mobility. I’ve noticed that a lot of the wooden filing cabinets available on the market have feet without wheels. The consequence of this is that once you fill up the drawers and other storage spaces with all your files, moving the entire cabinet manually can be a big hassle if not impossible.
There will times when a person would want to shift their cabinet, or least have the option to do so. For example, if you are changing rooms or simply want to reposition the furniture in your office room, such cabinets would hinder the process.
A mobile wooden filing cabinet can prove to be very practical in such instances. Wheels are attached to the base of the cabinet allowing for easy relocation. However, if the floor on which the cabinet is resting is even slightly uneven, the wheels may cause the whole cabinet to be unstable.
