If you have a recess within a room of your house which is not being utilised fully the best option is to install a wardrobe sliding doors system. This system consist of doors sliding on tracks left or right that span the width of the recess wall to wall. When fitted all the space to the rear of the doors will be utilised fully. The wardrobe space can incorporate shelving, drawers and hanging space for all your storage requirements.
Many manufactures offer these door systems on a supply only basis. You confirm your order online by providing the overall dimensions and what finishes you want and they will work out the rest. The door system kit will be delivered to your home for fitting by you or by a handy man. They are relatively easy to install and look great.
The system kit incorporates the wardrobe doors in the finish of your choice, door running tracks that will run wall to wall in the recess, cover panels as required and all necessary fittings and fixings. The track system usually consists of an overhead track that will bear the weight of the doors and a guide track mounted at floor level to keep the doors in line. The shelving and carcass behind the doors is usually supplied by you.
These systems can be installed in openings up to about 5 m wide and about 2.5 m high.
Door finish combinations are endless. There are three basic finish options available for the surface finish of the doors to choose from. The first is plain mirror doors either in standard silver or bronze. The second is glass in various colours and the third uses a fabricated board known as melamine faced chipboard (MFC). The board finish can incorporate a plain colour or wood grain effect in a number of species. A combination of glass and MFC is possible. The edges of the doors are usually lined with brushed aluminium grab rails and the door slide and roll in a smooth motion.
If your budget will not extend to the above, wardrobes could still be constructed in the recess faced with white interior doors. They are relatively inexpensive and will still look great.
