If it is leather then you should also see the grade of the hide. Cheap foreign imports, especially those made in the Far East are of a lower quality than those made in Western countries. The price should reflect the overall quality. Hand crafted examples will be much more expensive, but far more durable and comfortable. Smaller independent manufacturers carry the highest price tag. Some of these can cost well over $5000, whilst the imports are typically around $200 to $400.
