How To Determine The Quality Of Tub Chairs

There are quite a few different kinds of tub chairs available to buy today and they all come with different price tags. You can spend a whole lot of cash for some of them, so you need to be sure you are buying the right quality chair. To help you make the best decision, here are a few handy hints that you can use when you are in the furniture store.

First of all you need to make sure the tub chair is comfortable. Sit down and get a general feel for the chair. The cushions should support you immediately, and in combination with the springs in the seat, you will get a quick idea of the comfort levels that the chair has to offer. When you get out of the seat have a look at how quickly it retains its original position. You don’t want to see any sagging in the cushion. If you hear any funny noises, such as squeaks or groans then this is a sure sign that the springs are inferior.

Next, kneel down on the seat facing towards the back rest. Take hold of the side arms and try pushing and pulling them from side to side, but do this gently. A good quality tub chair will have very little movement in the joints. If you notice that the arms move a lot then this is another sign of poor quality joints.

Take a look underneath the chair and locate the label. This label will tell you some important information such as where it was made and by whom. If it is leather then you should also see the grade of the hide. Cheap foreign imports, especially those made in the Far East are of a lower quality than those made in Western countries. Tub chairs in the Far East are mass produced from cheaper materials.

The price should reflect the overall quality. Hand crafted examples will be much more expensive, but far more durable and comfortable. Smaller independent manufacturers carry the highest price tag. Some of these can cost well over $5000, whilst the imports are typically around $200 to $400.
