My wife and I read a lot and it is a great hobby, however we also like to keep all the books we read which present a huge storage problem. After many years of reading and many hundreds of books we have books piled up everywhere, literally. We have attempted many different storage solutions over the years, including containers, closet organization systems, shelving and bookshelves and I think we have finally found the one piece of furniture that solves our problem, the stackable folding bookcase.
The first great thing about these types of bookshelves is that they fold flat! We purchase a few at a time to get the extra savings, simply fold them up, and put them in the attic until we need them. As the books begin to pile up, we find a good spot for a bookcase, get it out of the attic, clean it up and unfold it. This allows us to have them when necessary but not fill up our house with empty bookcases.
Secondly, we love the ability to stack them! There are portions of our home that have vaulted ceilings and this gives us the opportunity to stack the bookcases for even more storage capacity in the same amount of space. After they are stacked and connected together you can’t even tell they are separate bookcases, they blend seamlessly together.
They come in various designs and wood types. One of our particular favorites is pine bookcases because they are not heavy and have a great look. We prefer the naked furniture versions but many colors and styles are available. The shelves themselves range in number from 3 to 9 depending on size and their specific stacking capacity.
