In a typical modern home the floors are very plain and simple. You will probably have a plain carpet, hardwood or laminate floor in the main rooms all of which provide a good backdrop to your furniture and soft furnishings. With plain furniture also being in vogue however you might find that your room is just too plain.
Accessories become very important in this scenario. You will need some accent pieces to provide focal points for your room. The main thing to ensure is that the colors in your rug are represented in the remainder of the room. It is easy to imagine the size as something it is not. if you don’t have a similar sized rug to compare draw out the shape on newspaper or old wallpaper so that you can see how each size would look in your room. It’s a great way to try out different rug dimensions and shapes without having to buy rugs and return them.
